How to use YAML to JSON

  1. Paste your text into the input box, or drop a file onto it.
  2. Choose your options.
  3. Press YAML to JSON.
  4. Copy the result or download it in the format you need.

Example

Before
name: TextVix
tags:
  - text
  - pdf
free: true
After
{
  "name": "TextVix",
  "tags": [
    "text",
    "pdf"
  ],
  "free": true
}

Numbers, booleans and null become their JSON equivalents.

Safe parsing

Only the standard YAML 1.2 core schema is used: custom tags never run code, duplicate keys are reported, and anchors and aliases are expanded with a limit, so a small “alias bomb” can’t expand into gigabytes. Comments aren’t part of JSON and are dropped.

What happens to your text

Your text is processed in your browser and kept only in this tab’s memory. It is not uploaded, saved or used for analytics.

Questions about YAML to JSON

More answers in the TextVix FAQ.

What about files with several documents (---)?

They become a JSON array with one entry per document.

Is “no” turned into false?

No. TextVix follows YAML 1.2, where only true and false are booleans; “no” stays text.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your text and files are never sent to a server or stored.
