How to use Remove Duplicate Lines

  1. Paste a list or any multi-line text into the input box, or upload a file such as .txt, .csv or .docx.
  2. Press Remove duplicates. TextVix keeps the first occurrence of every line and removes the repeats.
  3. Adjust matching: make it case-insensitive, ignore surrounding spaces, keep the last occurrence instead, or sort the result.
  4. Copy the cleaned list or download it as TXT, CSV or JSON.

Example

Before
Apple
apple
Apple
Banana
Banana
Orange
After
Apple
Banana
Orange

With case-sensitive matching turned off, “Apple” and “apple” count as the same line.

Good for

  • Cleaning email or customer lists exported from several sources
  • Deduplicating keywords, tags or product SKUs
  • Removing repeated log lines before reviewing them
  • Tidying copied spreadsheet columns before pasting them back

First or last occurrence?

Keeping the first occurrence preserves the original order of your list. Keeping the last occurrence is useful when later lines are newer — for example, the most recent entry in an exported log.

What happens to your text

Questions about Remove Duplicate Lines

More answers in the TextVix FAQ.

Does removing duplicates change the order of my lines?

No. Lines stay in their original order unless you turn on “Sort result A → Z”.

Are “Apple” and “apple” treated as duplicates?

Only when case-sensitive matching is off. By default matching is case-sensitive, so they are kept as different lines.

How do I see which lines were duplicated?

Use Find Duplicates, which lists every repeated line along with how many times it appears.

Is my text uploaded anywhere?

No. This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your text and files are never sent to a server or stored.
