What these tools can and can’t do

Merging, splitting and creating PDFs keep your pages exactly as they are. Getting content out of a PDF is different: TextVix can extract the text a PDF stores as text, or draw each page as an image. It can’t rebuild a PDF’s layout in Word or Excel, and it can’t read scanned pages (that needs OCR, which TextVix doesn’t do).

Processed on your device

Every PDF tool here runs in your browser using PDF.js (the engine inside Firefox) and pdf-lib. Your PDF is not uploaded to TextVix.

Password-protected PDFs

Encrypted PDFs can’t be opened, merged or split here. If you know the password, open the file and print it to a new PDF first.

Questions about pdf tools

Is there a page limit?

Yes, to keep your browser responsive: up to 2,000 pages when merging, 1,000 when splitting, 500 for text extraction and 50 pages when turning pages into images. Each tool shows its own limits.

Can I convert a PDF to an editable Word file with the same layout?

No. PDF to Word (Text Only) puts the PDF’s text into a Word document as plain paragraphs. Layout, images and tables are not recreated — the tool says so before you use it.
